Away from Vernon for 2 weeks

I just got back from a 2 weeks business trip. This is the time my little boy sent me off at Changi Airport.

Well, Have missed out alot during these 2 weeks:

1) He has learnt to walk in a straight line in his walker. He used to walk sideway like a crab.

2) He is able to negotiate his way to his destination, from living room to rooms to look for things.

3) His little tooth on his lower gum has "poked" out.

4) He is able to jump (LOVES to jump), with someone supporting part of his weight.

5) He has learnt to "scream" or "call out" to people.

6) Lastly, think he has really grown into more active and mischeivous, especially when his doting grandparents are around, because he knows that they will give in to him when he makes those cute "coo" noises.

Well, he is at the time when he is starting to pick up things from the environment. With the longing for him during the 2 weeks i am away and the fact that i think he needs careful teaching by his parents, I really want to spend more time with him playing and coaching him.

Hope he grows up to be a well-adjusted and responsible person and not like an "ah Sia Gia" like this picture.. hahahaha

Little Vernon Sitting Up

Little Vernon can sit up reasonably well already. This is his little throne that we bought from Ikea for $19. Today, he also has his first meal together on the same table with his daddy and mummy @ikea. I was feeding him cereal and milk, while his daddy has to feed me the salmon, etc... Any slowness in my feeding, he will wail..

He is really a greedy boy... He eats readily to all the food we gave him so far (cereals, papaya, apple) and will cry after that asking for more...He try to put everything he holds onto his mouth.. Oh ya, now he can roll across the entire bed, our queen size bed and not his little cot.... the next development that we are excited will be for him to crawl and for him to be able to recognise his names..

There is once that I called him Yang Yang and Vernon across the room, and he seems to react to my calling everytime by turning his heads towards me... So i decided to call him "Daniel" to test it out... and HE TURNS as well...ARGH......

07 July 2007 Update - Growing Up baby

Sorry folks, that i have gone missing in action for a long while. Well, it has been busy at work.. and busy "entertaining" my little kid whenever I am home... or recuperating after the exhausting session of "entertainment"... : ) Yes, he needs to be entertained at all times, unless he is taking a nap...then i do have some time on my own to do some stuff, but it is only half an hour... that not even enough to clear my newspaper backlog and clearing my bills, etc....

But anyway, for the past 1 month or so, his hair has grown back already! Not as chubby as before as he is starting to lose his baby fat. But he is still considered a big and chubby baby...He weighs 8.1kg and is 66.5cm long on 29June when we went to visit the PD. His feet is big as well, and he can fit into Auntie Zen's gift... but ironically, he can't walk yet. Hope he still can fit into them when he can run!

Today, 07 July 2007, marks the first day that Little Vernon has his first solid food... It is just a teaspoon of thin consistency of rice cereals. But he loves it, finished all that i have given him. hehe.... I am intending to stop giving him breastmilk when he turns 6 months...So his diet will soon be cereals, formula milk, some mash fruits and vegetables... : ) prob he will shoot up to 10kg soon (which i hope not)..

On his other development, he can stretch up his hand to grab things.. he can roll from back to front (once)... he can crawl (or rather push his body) up a little.. his legs will move forward in steps when you hold him standing up...he can sit reasonably well with support.... he starts to recognise caregivers... smile and laughs more (but beware, he can be quite "dao")... he seems to be going on a teething stage as he is always drooling....

Bye bye, all my aunties.... Mucks!!!

Roll and Roll

Vernon has his first roll on 25th May; at about 4 months and 1 week. However, he just able to roll from back to front on his right. Still much more to come!

Can you spot the difference? ON 20 May, I brought Little Vernon for his 4th month shave. Now he looks quite like a chubby monk. A cute little monk. Surprisingly, he did not even cry or move when he has his shave. A good boy....

At 4th month now, he really smiles and talks more... but of course, he talks like "arh, an-ge, coo,", etc.... of kind of noises. He also getting much smarter... he knows it is milk time when he sees the milk bottle.....He can hold his milk bottle during feeding.

Weighing at 7.4kg, he is getting comments from my friends, colleagues, passer-bys, shop aunties that "he is such a chubby boy, cute"...uniform first comment...

Oh, i tried feeding him plain water using a spoon and he likes it alot. He drank up whatever I feed and he will smile. This is in constrast to the time i feed him plain water using bottle. Think he is getting excited eating his first solid using the plate and spoon. ..... now, i am waiting for him to be ready for solid...

"drug" addict

Little Vernon is behaving like a "drug" addict whenever he sucks his thumb. Right after his PD visit last wed, he knows how to just suck his thumb instead of his own hand. And now, he is addicted to it. He WANTS to suck his thumb whenever he is bored or wants to sleep... yes, WANTS... he will cry outloud if we take his thumb out.... and if he is able to suck, he will suck the thumb with rhythm and his eyes half-closed....his face shows a feeling of that it is really so enjoyable and soothing...

Though so, I still think it is a bad habit that should not be cultivated. As such, I would try not to have him suck his thumb. What more, the PD attributed to his SMELLY fart and poo to the fact that he sucks his thumb (due to bacteria).

oh by the way, his fart is really so smelly that everybody without fail who smell it will say that it is REALLY REALLY smelly... and he farts not just once but many a day... hehehe....

Dont you think that he looks like a "Zhao Cai Mao" with his wide smile? :P

Little Vernon knows how to recognise the camera already and knows how to pose for the camera (only if and only if he is in good mood)... He has mood as well... if he is not in good mood, no matter how you entertain him, he still "bo chap" you or create a din...

Nowadays, he laughs other than smile... the way he laughs and chuckle is so interesting...cute..
His neck is stronger, but he still doesn't really know how to hold his neck/head up properly...
