My first $100

I have spent my first $100 on my baby. And it is all clothes. Went to isetan sale yesterday and saw this little top for $29.90 (less 30%), reckon that it is quite cute and there is discount (typical women's mentality) so I just bought it after 3 mins of consideration. The bibs are also on discount and bought them as well.

Today, was cajoled by my colleagues to go to their favourite push cart in Far east square for baby clothes. And my colleagues went gaga over the clothes, searching the piles to look for cheap and good buy for their boy and girl toddler. I looked aimlessly, and managed to find so-so and not wow clothes. But thinking maybe it is cheap ($14 for a set of t-shirt and shorts, $6 for short romper, $9 for long romper, $12 for the polo tee) as claimed by colleagues, I decided to buy them for the sake of stocking up clothes for my baby. So my total damages is $65, the highest among all colleagues. Think their toddler clothes are cheaper. Sigh, a little of each item adds up. Here are my purchases (which do you like?):

My biggest regret is the pyjamas below (which cost me $10). Initially, I thought it is $10 for 2 sets which i think it is reasonable; but it is $10 for 2 pcs. However, my colleagues keep saying that this is good material and will last. I hope so. But anyway, it is from GAP. so shouldn't hiam too much.

Last weekend, have been rather stress thinking about what to buy for our little baby. The item to buy, the quality of it, the quantity of it.... for every little thing you can think of... feeding bottles, breast pump, home clothes, outdoor clothes, diapers, everything has lots to consider before you buy... so stress....so at least, i made a first start in baby purchases - (outdoor clothes)... i think now the highest priority now is to set up the baby room... with that, we can start filling up with small items and decor....

In my 21 weeks...

I went for the 5th month detailed hospital scan yesterday. The senior radiographist measured the length of head, hands, finger, etc, and look out for any other abnormalies. Everything is fine, so relieved. And baby is quite cooperative though. She is also pretty sure that baby is a boy as she can see the "dont know what bag" (some medical terms, which andy called it balls in layman terms) and then the penis.

Throughout the 45mins scan, I do not understand a single thing on the screen. It was very blur and imaginery. The radiographist can tell me this is the hands, stomach, etc. But i can't really make out the picture. There is once that I have mistakenly took his kidneys as his eyes and bladders as his mouth. It looks like it when i looked at the screen, with 2 small dots and 1 moving big circle.... But I was wrong.... chimlogy....

In the afternoon, I went back to Dr Ang's clinic to show him the report, and he say that the blood test that i did 1 month ago was ok - low risk of down syndrome baby. And he tried to do a 3D picture of the baby's face. Apparently, he has to be in a perfect position and he cannot be moving. Though not entirely wrong position, Dr ang still cannot capture a very good picture. I still have to use my imagination to imagine his eyes, nose and face... Sigh... the picture looks terrible so i am not posting any picture up now. Andy and I was like, at least it looks better when he shows us the 2D. : (

My baby weighs 399g now....And though i feel that the baby's position is very low and might be indicative of pre-mature baby, Dr Ang says there is no clear evidence yet. And to the radiographist and doctor, the position is not low. haha. think i think too much. And before I go, Dr Ang says that I should monitor my baby's movement now. It should be at least 10 times a day. Strangely enough, since last night and the whole of today, I can feel baby's movement at a shorter interval.. and it is getting harder and harder.... very aggressive...

I guess the news that it is a boy thrilled both side of the parents. I feel that though they don't really mind a boy or girl, but they would prefer that the first one is a boy, as typical traditional family. That all for my baby progress for this month. Will update you all on my quest for baby's things..

Names and Baby Room

my jackie chan has became more tame down now... maybe because that i am very busy with work lately to feel much. Lately, other than busy with work, I have also been busy thinking of chinese name for my baby and also ideas on how to decorate my baby room.

On names, I have been thinking hard on what names to give. After much thought, i want him to be someone that achieves what he wants/wishes through integrity and on his own capability/efforts. I am trying to find a name that encompasses these attributes, but cant think of a good one. (let me know if you can think of one). If not, I want it to be a glorius/strong name... like those big businessman/politicians.... (e.g. Wee Cho Yaw, Lee Kuan Yew, what-long)... but agree with my hubby that, some people cannot take a strong name.. it will create the opposite effect...so I am stuck again. If anyone knows where to get the books, do let me know.. i want chinese name one... Cos English name will be quite set as Vernon Tan.

ok, coming to the baby room. Hmm. Looking at a few websites and magazines, it is pretty standard that people have a cot, sofa bed/armchair, Chest drawer, changing table, and wallpaper... all in mild colour and have some cute and sweet looking accessories. So i wanted to do all that but:
1) it may going to cost close to 1.5K - 2K just for all those, depending on where you get those things...sigh..big bomb
2) I still haven't set that i am going to have baby cot in his own room, that means, i have to sleep with him every night or that i have a maid to sleep with him... can't adjust to that 2 arrangements.. but maybe i have to due to circumstances
3) How to find the cute and sweet looking accessories to enhance the baby room decor? It is the most impt thing to make the room so cosy and baby-like... but i don't know where to get it... where are all the baby malls in singapore? : )

hmm.. what else can i think/plan to prepare for the arrival of my baby?

Jackie Chan wanna-to-be

Today, I felt the first distinct movement of my baby. The very first was when i was doing facial. it was just pure movements for about 3 more mins after 3 distinct kicks.... then it stopped. He (at the moment, i will label the baby as he) must have fallen asleep since it is about 12noon... should be his usual sleeping time.

Then at about 8+pm, I felt baby movement again.. he might be just shifting his legs.. or shifting his body.. or hands... but you can really feel something is moving underneath ur tummy. I got my hubby to place his hand on my tummy... and he could felt it too.... This fluttering feeling lasted very long... on and off throughout the hour... at one point, i felt a bit of discomfort... thinking it must be somersault this time round...

Amazing.. the feeling is great... So i felt my first distinct baby movement on my 18th weeks...

Now, my tummy is showing quite obviously... consistently getting seats on MRT train.... Went to the weighing scale... i still measured 55kg (phew)... but my waist has grown from 31inchs (last measured July 20th) to 33 inchs now....
